How do I book a TTD room online?

This article sets out the process in order, from the prerequisite to the confirmation screen, and covers the fallback for devotees who miss the online window.

How do I book a TTD room online?

The online booking process for TTD accommodation is not complicated, but it is unforgiving. There is one release window per month, one prerequisite you must satisfy before the booking link will activate, and a sell-out period measured in single-digit minutes for the most contested categories. Devotees who understand the sequence succeed. Devotees who log in on the day of travel and expect availability do not.

This article sets out the process in order, from the prerequisite to the confirmation screen, and covers the fallback for devotees who miss the online window.

To understand the full range of properties and price bands before you begin the booking process, our guide on what types of rooms are available in Tirumala sets out every category from the free PAC dormitories to the premium suites. For the complete pricing across those bands, our article on what is the cost of rooms in Tirumala and our companion breakdown on how much does a room cost at Tirumala cover every tariff line.

The Prerequisite You Must Satisfy First

Before the accommodation booking link will activate on the portal, you must hold a valid darshan or seva ticket linked to the same mobile number. This requirement has been enforced since 2024 and is not waived for any room category, including the premium rooms and the ₹50 cottages.

The reason is structural. TTD runs approximately 7,000 rooms on the hill against daily footfall that exceeds 75,000 pilgrims during normal periods. Without the darshan ticket linkage, rooms would be booked speculatively by people who may never enter the temple, and genuine pilgrims would be displaced.

For how this rule works across booking channels and whether any exceptions exist, our guide on can we book rooms in Tirumala without darshan tickets covers the enforcement practice and the limited flexibility at the CRO counter.

If you do not yet hold a darshan ticket, secure one first. Our article on what is the fastest way to book Tirumala Darshan tickets covers the same-day options, and our guide on how to get immediate darshan in Tirumala explains the Srivani Trust current booking route that releases tickets at 9:00 AM for same-day darshan at 4:00 PM.

Where to Book: The Official Portal

All TTD accommodation bookings are made through the official portal at ttdevasthanams.ap.gov.in. The portal is also accessible through the official TTDevasthanams mobile app.

TTD has repeatedly warned devotees to book only through these official channels. No third-party website, agent, or travel platform is authorised to issue TTD accommodation, and several fake websites mimicking the official portal have been identified.

For how the online channel compares with the same-day CRO route, our guide on how to book rooms in Tirumala directly sets out both processes side by side.

When the Quota Opens: The Monthly Release

TTD releases accommodation quotas in monthly batches, typically opening on the 24th of each month at 3:00 PM for the following month. If you want a room for October, you must be on the portal on September 24 at 3:00 PM.

This is not a rolling booking system. There is no availability before the release and no fresh quota afterwards until the next monthly cycle. The window is effectively a single point in time.

For the full release schedule including every time point in the process, our guide on what are the TTD room booking timings covers the monthly cycle, the quota release day, and the booking window. For a practical sense of how quickly you must move once the window opens, our article on how much time will it take to get a room in Tirumala breaks down the lead time, booking window, and same-day wait separately.

How Fast the Categories Sell Out

Room Category Time to Sell Out
₹50 – ₹100 cottages Under 3 minutes
₹1,000 category 5 – 15 minutes
Premium AC / Suites 5 – 15 minutes
Standard non-AC Under 30 minutes

The ₹50 and ₹100 categories disappear first. The ₹1,000 band is the most contested mid-range category. For strategies specific to that band, our guide on how to book 1000 RS rooms in Tirumala covers preparation and timing in detail. For the ultra-budget category, our article on can I book a room online at TTD for ₹100 explains why the three-minute window matters.

The Step-by-Step Online Booking Process

Step 1: Register on the Portal Before Release Day

Create your TTD account using your Aadhaar-linked mobile number and complete the OTP verification. Do not attempt registration on the release day itself. The minutes consumed by registration are minutes lost to the quota.

Step 2: Confirm Your Darshan Ticket Is Linked

Log in and verify that your confirmed darshan or seva ticket appears in your account. If it does not appear, the accommodation section will remain locked. Resolve any linkage issue before the release window opens.

Step 3: Log In 10 to 15 Minutes Before 3:00 PM

Be on the portal with your account active well before the quota release. Have the Aadhaar details of all occupants ready and your payment method loaded. Devotees who log in at 3:00 PM exactly will find the popular categories already gone.

Step 4: Navigate to the Accommodation Section

Once logged in, select "Accommodation" from the online services menu. Choose Tirumala as your preferred location, then select the room category from the available options.

Step 5: Register the Pilgrim Details

The system requires the Aadhaar details of the pilgrims being booked. A minimum of two pilgrims must be registered per room, and the system permits a maximum of four pilgrims per booking. Children below 12 years enter free and do not count towards the occupancy limit, but valid age proof must be carried.

For the occupancy rules across every category, our guide on how many people can stay in Tirumala accommodation and our article on how many members can stay in Tirumala room cover the minimum-two rule and the four-per-booking ceiling.

Step 6: Complete the Payment

Pay the applicable tariff using UPI, credit card, or net banking. The booking confirms immediately on successful payment. Download the confirmation and note the check-in time and property name.

Step 7: Carry the Confirmation and Original ID

At check-in, you must present the printed or digital booking confirmation along with the original government-issued photo ID used during booking. The names on the ID must match the booking record.

What Each Room Category Delivers

The categories available through the online portal range from ultra-budget cottages to premium suites. The table below sets out the structure.

Category Tariff Range Typical Capacity
Ultra-Budget Cottages ₹50 – ₹100 2 – 4
Standard Non-AC ₹100 – ₹500 2 – 3
Mid-Range ₹500 – ₹800 2 – 3
₹1,000 Category ₹1,000 2 – 5
Premium AC / Suite ₹1,200 – ₹1,500 2 – 6

The Rules That Apply to Every Online Booking

Five restrictions govern all TTD accommodation, and four of them will reject your booking outright if violated.

Darshan ticket linkage. No accommodation booking will be accepted without a confirmed darshan slot linked to the same mobile number. Our guide on can we book rooms in Tirumala without darshan tickets covers the full rule.

Marriage proof for couples. TTD allots rooms only to married couples or family groups. Valid proof of marriage is required at check-in. Unmarried couples are not eligible. Our article on can unmarried couples get room in Tirumala sets out the restriction and the alternatives available.

Minimum two occupants. Rooms are not allotted to single individuals. The only exception is the free PAC dormitory system.

One room per Aadhaar per 30 days. A single registered user can book only one accommodation within a 30-day window. Multiple bookings under the same Aadhaar are rejected by the system. If you need two rooms, you must use two different Aadhaar numbers.

The 24-hour allotment rule. The base tariff applies to the first 24 hours from check-in. Beyond 24 hours, the tariff doubles. Beyond 48 hours, it quadruples. The extension is never guaranteed and must be requested at check-in. Our guide on can we stay 2 days in Tirumala accommodation and our article on how to book a room for 2 days in Tirumala cover the extension procedure in detail.

For NRIs booking under the general pilgrim quota, the documentation requirements differ slightly. Our guide on can NRI book a room in TTD and our article on how can NRIs get accommodation in Tirumala set out the passport and OCI verification process.

What to Do If You Miss the Online Window

If the quota sells out before you complete the booking, or if your travel date falls before the next monthly release, the online route is closed. Two fallbacks remain.

The Central Reception Office (CRO). The CRO in Tirumala offers same-day allotment on a first-come, first-served basis. It opens at 5:00 AM and operates until 10:00 PM, offering rooms in three price bands: ₹50, ₹100, and ₹1,000. The average wait during peak season is 6 to 8 hours. Our guide on can I book a room directly in Tirumala and our article on how to get rooms easily in Tirumala cover the CRO registration process including the facial recognition step.

Private hotels in Tirupati. If neither the online nor the CRO route works, private hotels in Tirupati at the foothills operate without TTD's occupancy rules and offer more flexible booking terms. The trade-off is the 30 to 45 minute journey up the ghat road. Our guide on is it better to stay in Tirumala or Tirupati sets out the full comparison. For the descent timings if you are returning at night, our article on can we get down from Tirumala at night covers the ghat road schedule.

The Donor Privilege Route

Devotees who have made significant donations to TTD are entitled to accommodation benefits that do not require competing in the monthly quota. At the ₹1 lakh threshold, the entitlement includes one day of subsidised accommodation per year at a nominal tariff, booked through the Donor Management System rather than the general portal.

Our guide on how to pay 1 lakh to TTD sets out the donation process, the benefits attached to each tier, and the 80G tax treatment that applies.
